On, Monday, October 23 Ozark Jr High School wrestling season begins with all practices held at Ozark Junior High. Practices start off with a warm up, practice drills, live wrestling, and then end with a workout. Any student looking to try a new sport can give wrestling a try by coming out to the first practice.

When Ozark attends duals, wrestlers work on the drills they learn in practice as a team to prepare for matches.

Ninth grader Thomas Rushing, and eighth grader Declan Cummings, are a few of the many participants of the Ozark Junior High wrestling. Rushing has wrestled since the young age of seven years old, and Cummings started wrestling at age 11.

Rushing enjoys school wrestling because it gives him a chance to go up against his friends that attend different schools.

Cummings says his cousin Kenny is his wrestling inspiration because of his determination and hard work at practice. “All of the hard work pays off when he is at duals,” says Cummings.

Cummings has some big goals, one of them is to win 1st place in the Missouri Nationals. ¨I am ready to show the coaches and the other wrestlers what I can do and I really just love to wrestle,¨ Cummings adds.

When the school wrestling season is over wrestlers can continue to wrestle with the Ozark Youth Wrestling Club.
