The Ozark Junior High wrestling team took second at the Nixa-Marshfield Tri-Meet Wednesday, December 6. The team will face both of these teams along with many others at the Central Ozarks Conference tournament Saturday, December 9.

As the team wraps up the season in the next week they will be facing Bolivar and Camdenton on Tuesday and Waynesville and Sullivan on Thursday. Eighth grade wrestler Mason Moreland says, “The Bolivar meet was easy last year.” Moreland says he doesn’t expect to have much of a challenge.

The team has been training all week for the biggest tournament of the year – the COC tournament. This meet will include all eighth teams from the Central Ozarks Conference in one tournament that will take place in Carthage. Last year team took sixth at this tournament and is hoping to improve and be named the best in their conference.

Jake Beets said, “What I like most about wrestling are the meets.” The team has had 14 total meets and usually a wrestler will have one or two matches each night. The high school team also has two tournaments this weekend as the varsity go to Jefferson City for the Missouri Duals and the junior varsity travels to Rolla for a one day tournament.
