Rainbow Rowell has been writing books since 2011 and has published six books on her own as well as had a story in a collection of holiday stories. Her second book, Eleanor & Park, was published April 1, 2012.

“I loved it,” says student Sophie Lipchik, “I really liked how two misfits were brave enough to fall in love.” Eleanor & Park follows the story of two high school misfits in the late 1980s. The students bond over their love for comic books and music.

“It reminded me not just what it’s like to be young and in love with a girl,” says John Green, author of The Fault in our Stars, “but also what it’s like to be young and in love with a book.”

Rowell’s story received the Indies Choice Young Adult Book of the Year, Amazon’s Teen Book of the Year and Top Ten Book of the Year, Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Book of the Year, Young Adult Library Services Association Top Ten Best Fiction for Young Adults, and Audible’s Best Teen Audiobook of the Year.

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend,” says Lipchik, “It has a lot of meaning behind it and it’s just an amazing love story.”
