On February 21 and 23 the Ozark Junior High held softball tryouts for seventh and eighth grade girls at their home field.

Coaches Nimmo, Little, and Luttrell held tryouts for girls who were interested in softball with 25 players making the team.

Lauren Brice and Lakyn Cox are two of those girls that made the team . Brice says softball tryouts included the players demonstrating a variety of skills. ” We worked on defense, throwing, and batting,” said Brice.

Brice played second and shortstop as a seventh grader, while Cox played first last year. ” I’ve been said to look upset and crazy while Lauren is said to be competitive,” explains Cox on the season they spent as seventh grade softball players.

13 eighth graders made the team while 12 seventh graders made the team for this year’s new season.Eighth grade players include Lauren Brice, Laykn Cox, Madison Spies, Hattie Depee, Chloi Garrison, Baily Williams, Rori Doorman, Ashlei Coonrod, Abby Faught, Tatum Weter, Tiffany Nichols, Madison Neely, and Paige Chrastina.

The OJH softball team will play Nixa, Neosho, Branson, Cassville, Bolivar, Logan-Rogersville, Bolivar, and Hollister this spring.

Whenever the girls step on the field they live by these quotes, “Practice doesn’t make perfect, practice makes permanent. If you want to be the best try the best. Don’t go for great, go for perfection.”
